My wife and I bicycling on a rural bike path outside of Amsterdam
Before coming to ASU to work with Professor Trisalyn Nelson, I spent almost a decade at UC Davis. I took my first undergraduate classes in 2007, studying Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity. I also competed on the cross country and track and field teams. I won only one race in college - the Big West Conference championship 10k (I guess I peaked when it counted!) - and was also honored during my senior year as the UC Davis male student-athlete of the year.

After a year away from school, I returned for a Master's and then a PhD at UC Davis in the Transportation Technology and Policy program, working with Professor Susan Handy.

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2-year-old son. And when the opportunity presents itself, we go on family runs (we run much slower now than our undergraduate days!) or bike rides. I also enjoy backpacking or camping with friends and family. Though I have mostly explored the Sierras of Northern California, I look forward to visiting some of the national parks in Arizona and Utah.
